Russell County, KS (July 5, 2026) – A 21-year-old Ellsworth man died early on Saturday morning, July 4, after being struck by a pickup truck in Russell County. Deputies arrived at the intersection of 195th Street and Lincoln Lane shortly after 12:15 a.m. following reports of a serious pedestrian incident.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the victim was a front right passenger in a 2002 Ford F-150 when he exited the vehicle after a hat fell out of the window. While he was outside the pickup, the vehicle reportedly began reversing and struck him.
He was transported to a nearby hospital in Russell, where he later died from his injuries. Officials identified the victim as Aiden Moyer, 21, of Ellsworth. The driver, a 16-year-old boy, and two additional passengers were not injured in the incident. This is a developing story. We extend our sympathy to those mourning this loss.
