Deputies said a 2020 Subaru Forester was traveling west on State 49. A 2018 Ram 2500, driven by a 33-year-old Menasha man, was also involved.
Investigators said the Subaru crossed the centerline before the vehicles collided. Both vehicles caught fire after the accident.
The Phillips man was flown to Aurora Medical Center-Summit with serious injuries. The Menasha driver was not hurt and was arrested on suspicion of operating while revoked.
The names of those involved were not released, pending family notification. The wreck remains under review by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team. We hope the injured man receives the care he needs during recovery.
What Details Are Often Reviewed After Fiery Two-Vehicle Collisions?
Fiery two-vehicle collisions often require a close review of vehicle direction, lane position, and where each vehicle was before contact. When a vehicle crosses a centerline, investigators may examine steering movement, braking, road markings, and nearby traffic flow.
Fire can make the review more complex because heat may damage parts of the vehicles or change what can be seen afterward. Emergency units may also need extra time to make the road safe before towing and cleanup can begin.
Medical records can help explain the seriousness of harm after a person is flown to a hospital. Photos, debris patterns, roadway marks, and witness statements may also help build a clearer timeline of how the vehicles came together.
