What Factors Are Often Examined After a Head-On Crash?
Head-on collisions are among the most serious types of roadway accidents because both vehicles often absorb heavy impact forces at the same time. After these crashes, investigators usually review lane positions, vehicle speed, driver actions, and roadway conditions to better understand how the collision occurred.
Passing maneuvers are also commonly examined, especially on highways with opposing traffic lanes. Skid marks, vehicle damage, and witness statements may help show how long drivers had to react before impact. In some situations, investigators also look into possible impairment, distraction, or fatigue. Medical reports can later provide more details about the severity of injuries suffered by those involved. Traffic patterns, lighting conditions, and weather may also be reviewed when determining the sequence of events surrounding a serious crash.
