Pebble Beach, CA (May 16, 2026) – A serious head-on collision involving a tour bus and a Corvette caused major injuries on Friday afternoon, May 15, along 17 Mile Drive near Majella Road in Pebble Beach.
The crash was reported at approximately 3:04 p.m. near the area of Spanish Bay. According to dispatch information, a red Corvette and a white passenger tour bus collided head-on, blocking both lanes of the roadway. Reports from the scene indicated that fluids were leaking from one of the vehicles following the impact.
Emergency units responded quickly after callers requested air medical assistance. One person involved in the crash was reported unconscious, while another suffered minor injuries. Due to the severity of the collision and language barriers at the scene, responders worked to gather statements before the injured parties were transported for treatment.
Tow-truck crews later removed the heavily damaged Corvette and the full-size tour bus from the roadway. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more information may be released at a later time.
We hope those injured in this accident make a full and speedy recovery.
How Head-on Crashes Can Lead to Severe Injuries
Head-on collisions often result in serious injuries because both vehicles absorb the force of impact at the same time. Even at moderate speeds, these crashes can cause major front-end damage and trap occupants inside their vehicles.
After a collision of this kind, investigators commonly review roadway positioning, tire marks, and vehicle damage patterns to better understand how the crash occurred. Curved roads, narrow lanes, and visibility issues may also become part of the review process, especially in scenic or high-traffic tourist areas.
Large vehicles, such as tour buses, can pose additional hazards in a crash due to their size and weight. When passenger vehicles collide with buses, emergency crews may need specialized towing equipment and extended road closures to safely clear the scene and assist those involved.
