Why Are Motorcycle Crashes at Intersections Often Serious?
Motorcycle crashes at intersections can lead to serious injuries because riders have less physical protection than occupants inside passenger vehicles. Collisions involving turning vehicles are common when drivers and riders approach the same intersection from different directions.
Investigators often review right-of-way, vehicle speed, and visibility when examining these crashes. Factors such as traffic flow, turning movements, and driver reaction time may also help explain how the collision occurred. Dry road conditions can still pose risks when vehicles enter intersections simultaneously.
