Medford, MA (September 12, 2026) – Three people suffered injuries after an MBTA bus crashed into multiple vehicles on Fellsway in Medford on Thursday morning, September 10.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. near the intersection of Fellsway and Salem Street. The 62-year-old bus driver was operating an out-of-service bus eastbound when the bus struck a vehicle ahead after the driver failed to stop. The impact pushed that vehicle into another car. The bus continued through the intersection, struck a parked vehicle, crossed the sidewalk, and stopped on the front lawn of a nearby home.
The bus driver and two people inside the vehicles struck by the bus were hospitalized. All three are expected to be okay. Six additional vehicles were damaged in the incident. The incident remains under investigation.

Safety Around Large Vehicles
Large buses and trucks require more room to stop and maneuver than passenger vehicles. Drivers should leave sufficient space around these vehicles and remain alert when approaching intersections or stopped traffic.
Pedestrians and residents near busy roads should also remain aware of vehicles that may leave the roadway during a collision. Keeping a safe distance from traffic areas can reduce the risk of being caught in a secondary incident.
