Why Do Serious Injuries Often Occur in City Intersection Crashes?
City streets like North Parkway carry steady traffic throughout the day. When two vehicles collide at intersections or along multi-lane roads, the force of impact can be severe, especially if one driver is traveling at a higher speed.
Side-impact and head-on crashes in urban areas can lead to critical injuries because there is limited space to avoid a sudden hazard. Traffic signals, turning vehicles, and pedestrian activity add more factors that drivers must monitor at once.
Even late-morning traffic can be dense near popular destinations such as parks and attractions. Staying alert, obeying signals, and reducing speed near intersections may help lower the risk of severe injury accidents.
