What Makes Left-Turn Motorcycle Crashes at Intersections So Dangerous?
Intersections like Locust Grove Road and Ustick Road often involve vehicles moving in different directions at the same time. Left-turn movements can increase the risk of crashes when drivers misjudge the speed or distance of an approaching motorcycle.
Busy approaches near Locust Grove Road and Ustick Road can slow rapidly following crashes. Crews in Meridian may redirect traffic as needed while managing the scene.
Motorcycles are smaller and can be harder to see, especially when approaching at higher speeds. When a turning vehicle crosses their path, riders may have limited time to react, which can lead to serious or fatal outcomes.
