Miami, FL (January 14, 2026) – A southbound crash on Florida’s Turnpike early Wednesday morning left at least one person injured, according to Miami-Dade County officials.
The incident took place around 6:45 a.m. near mile marker 16 on the SR-821 stretch of the Turnpike. EMS teams responded to the scene and provided medical assistance to those hurt in the crash. At least one individual required transport for further treatment following on-site care.
Despite the injuries reported, officials confirmed that no roadblock occurred, and vehicles were able to pass through the area with limited delays. The location, just north of major interchanges, is a common traffic chokepoint during peak hours, raising concerns about congestion-related incidents.
Investigators are still working to determine what caused the crash. Factors such as early morning visibility and high-speed merging may be considered as part of the ongoing review.
We send our thoughts to those injured and hope for a smooth and speedy recovery.
