Miami, FL (January 19, 2026) – A deadly crash occurred on Sunday night on the northbound side of the Don Shula Expressway (SR-874) near its connection with the Snapper Creek Expressway (SR-878), according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision involved a single vehicle and led to the death of the driver at the scene.
FHP investigators reported that the vehicle, an Infiniti sedan, veered into a guardrail for unknown reasons. The impact was severe, causing the driver to be ejected from the vehicle. Tragically, the individual, who has not yet been publicly identified, was pronounced dead on-site.
Following the crash, the vehicle reportedly caught fire, further complicating the scene for emergency responders. Fire rescue crews arrived quickly to extinguish the flames and secure the area.
The roadway was temporarily closed while FHP conducted a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. No additional details regarding the cause or contributing factors have been released at this time.
