Miami, FL (June 22, 2026) – A Miami police officer and another motorist were injured following a wrong-way crash on I-95 early Sunday morning, June 21.
According to the Miami Police, the collision occurred at approximately 2:16 a.m. in the northbound express lanes of I-95. Authorities reported that the officer was traveling northbound when a vehicle entered the express lanes traveling southbound in the wrong direction.
Investigators said the wrong-way vehicle collided with the officer’s patrol vehicle, causing significant damage and prompting an emergency response to the scene.
Both the officer and the other driver were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The police stated that the officer’s injuries were not considered life-threatening and that the officer is expected to recover. The other driver sustained critical injuries and remained hospitalized following the crash.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding what led the vehicle to enter the express lanes in the wrong direction. The crash remains under investigation.
