Minneapolis, MN (May 11, 2026) – One person was killed and another was taken to a hospital after an early-morning crash in south Minneapolis caused a Metro Transit bus to slam into a house.
The accident happened Monday, May 11, at around 4:00 a.m. at the intersection of 10th Avenue South and East 38th Street, just a few blocks east of George Floyd Square. A truck was traveling south on 10th Ave at high speed when it ran a stop sign and struck the back of an eastbound bus. The impact tore a tire off the bus and pushed it into the front of a nearby home.
The truck’s driver died at the scene. The bus driver was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover. No passengers were on the bus at the time, as it had not yet begun its morning route. The home the bus struck was unoccupied.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as they become available.
