Dodge County, GA (August 20, 2026) – Today, several people suffered minor injuries in a crash involving a box truck, a log truck, and a combine along U.S. Highway 280 near the Dodge County and Wilcox County line.
According to Dodge County Fire Chief Malcom Tyson, emergency crews, including the Dodge County Fire Department, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol, responded to the collision. The crash was reported at approximately 12:46 p.m. and closed all lanes of U.S. Highway 280 at the bridge over the Ocmulgee River.
Officials said the combine was traveling eastbound while the box truck and log truck were traveling westbound. The circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been determined.
Tyson said some of those involved suffered minor injuries, including soreness, but no serious injuries were reported. Crews worked to reopen the highway, while drivers were advised to use alternate routes and use caution when approaching the area. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
