Macon, GA (August 20, 2026) – A 29-year-old man was killed after being struck by an 18-wheeler on Wednesday, August 19, along Interstate 475 South near the Zebulon Road exit in Macon.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the pedestrian crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Investigators said the driver of an 18-wheeler struck a man who was crossing the interstate while wearing dark clothing.
Deputies arrived and found the pedestrian unresponsive. Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Authorities later identified the victim as 29-year-old Charles Anthony Palmer of Ocala, Florida. Officials said his family has been notified. The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash remain under investigation.
