Monroe Township, MI (June 3, 2026) – A 69-year-old Monroe man died after a two-vehicle collision on S Dixie Hwy south of Elmwood Dr in Monroe Township on Wednesday evening.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:16 p.m. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south in the left lane when a 1977 Chevrolet El Camino pulled from a driveway onto S Dixie Hwy. The two vehicles collided, causing both to spin before coming to rest on the roadway.
The El Camino driver, identified as Mark A. Anderson of Monroe, was taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, where he later died. The Silverado driver, 57-year-old Holly L. Downing of Erie, was also taken to the same hospital and was listed in serious condition.
The investigation into the wreck is continuing as additional details are gathered.
