Montague, TX (January 1, 2026) – A tragic rollover crash in Montague County claimed the life of a Texas woman and left children injured, according to information released by authorities.

The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m.  along Farm to Market Road 455. Emergency responders from Montague County arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a vehicle that had left the roadway and overturned.

Initial findings indicate the driver was traveling along FM 455 when the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane. After attempting to correct course, the car traveled back across the roadway, exited the pavement, and began to skid before rolling over. During the crash sequence, the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver was later identified as 28-year-old Katie Moore. Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, she was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Children who were also involved in the incident were evaluated by medical personnel and treated for injuries.

Texas Highway Patrol is handling the investigation and continues to review the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional details have been released at this time.

Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected by this devastating loss, as well as the children involved as they recover from their injuries.

Rollover Accidents in Texas

Rollover crashes, such as the one that occurred on FM 455, are among the most dangerous types of roadway incidents in Texas. These accidents often happen on rural roads where higher speeds, narrow shoulders, and sudden corrections can quickly lead to loss of control. When a vehicle leaves the roadway and begins to skid, the risk of a rollover increases significantly.

This incident underscores how quickly a routine drive can turn tragic, particularly on Farm to Market roads that blend local traffic with longer-distance travel. Even a brief deviation from a lane can trigger a chain reaction that results in severe outcomes, especially when a vehicle overturns.

For families impacted by fatal crashes, the aftermath is often overwhelming. Beyond the emotional toll, there are medical concerns, unanswered questions, and long-term effects on children and relatives left behind. Access to clear information and supportive resources can play an important role during this difficult time.

Texas continues to see a high number of serious and fatal crashes on rural roadways each year, making awareness, caution, and seatbelt use critically important. While investigations aim to determine what happened, recovery for those affected extends far beyond the roadway.
