Vernon, CT (August 6, 2026) – A man in his late 50s was injured in a moped collision on Interstate 84 East just before Exit 66 in Vernon late on Wednesday, August 5.
The crash was reported at approximately 9:40 p.m. Initial information indicated the rider was operating a moped with a reported top speed of 35 mph when a car allegedly cut him off, causing him to fall onto the roadway. Witnesses said the rider remained conscious and alert after the wreck.
The man suffered generalized road rash and was taken by advanced life support ambulance to Hartford Hospital. The initial report also stated that the rider was believed to be heavily intoxicated. No additional information about the other vehicle or its driver was released.
The circumstances surrounding the collision continue to be examined as the investigation remains active.
