Why Motorcycle Crashes at Intersections Can Result in Serious Injuries
Intersections are common locations for motorcycle crashes because vehicles traveling in different directions often cross paths while turning, stopping, or entering roadways. These situations can leave little time for drivers and riders to react when their paths intersect.
Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable because they lack the protective frame, airbags, and other safety features found in passenger vehicles. As a result, even a collision at moderate speeds can lead to severe injuries.
Investigators reviewing intersection crashes often examine vehicle movements, visibility, roadway design, and traffic conditions. These factors can help determine how the collision occurred and whether any contributing circumstances influenced the sequence of events.
