Egg Harbor Township, NJ (June 02, 2026) – A 42-year-old Atlantic County woman was left in critical condition Monday afternoon, June 1, after her motorcycle collided with an SUV on Tilton Road in Egg Harbor Township. The collision happened at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Julie Raymond was riding south on Tilton Road when a 2006 Hummer pulled out of the Harbor Square Mall and attempted to turn left heading north. The SUV pulled into Raymond’s path, and despite braking and swerving, her motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the Hummer: the impact ejected her from the bike.
Emergency units treated Raymond at the scene before she was taken to a regional medical center, where she remained in critical condition. The SUV driver and a passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Tilton Road was shut down in both directions between Black Horse Pike and Fire Road for more than three hours following the wreck. Charges are pending as the investigation into the accident moves forward. We are keeping Julie Raymond and her loved ones in our thoughts as she fights to recover.
What to Know About Left-Turn Motorcycle Crashes at Commercial Driveways in New Jersey
Left-turn crashes at commercial driveways are a well-documented danger for motorcyclists on busy roads. When a driver exits a parking lot or shopping center, they must judge the speed of oncoming traffic before pulling out — a task that becomes more difficult when the oncoming vehicle is a motorcycle, which can be harder to spot than a larger vehicle. A miscalculation in timing or distance can put a motorcycle directly in a vehicle’s path with very little warning.
In New Jersey, crashes of this type that result in serious injury often lead to pending charges against the driver who pulled out, particularly when investigators determine the right-of-way belonged to the motorcyclist. The legal process can take time, and formal charges may not be filed until the full review is complete.
Road closures following serious motorcycle crashes can last several hours, as investigators document the scene thoroughly before clearing it.
