How Are Motorcycle Crashes at Intersections Investigated?
Collisions involving motorcycles at intersections require investigators to carefully examine the sequence of events leading up to the impact. Officers typically document vehicle damage, skid marks, debris, roadway conditions, and the final resting positions of the vehicles to reconstruct the crash.
Investigators may also review witness statements, surveillance footage, traffic signal timing, and any available electronic vehicle data. Visibility, right-of-way, and driver actions are among the factors commonly evaluated during the investigation.
By analyzing physical evidence alongside witness accounts and other available information, investigators work to establish an accurate timeline of the collision. This process helps provide a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding the crash.
