Canyon County, ID (June 27, 2026) – An 18-year-old motorcyclist was injured in a two-vehicle accident on US20-26 near milepost 25 on Thursday evening. The collision occurred at about 6:17 p.m. at the intersection with Smeed Parkway.

The Idaho State Police said that a 2021 Acura RDX driven by a 44-year-old Caldwell woman was traveling westbound on US20-26 when it attempted to turn left onto Smeed Parkway. The Acura entered the path of a 2019 Honda CBR300 operated by an 18-year-old Caldwell man who was traveling eastbound, resulting in the collision.

The motorcycle rider was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The extent of the rider’s injuries was not immediately released.

The roadway remained blocked for about two hours while the wreck was documented and cleared. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

We are thinking of the injured rider and wish him a full recovery.

Why Are Left-Turn Motorcycle Collisions So Serious?

Motorcycles are smaller and less visible than larger vehicles, making left-turn collisions a common type of roadway encounter. When a turning vehicle crosses the path of an approaching motorcycle, the rider often has very little time or distance to avoid contact.

Investigators typically examine vehicle positions, speed, traffic controls, visibility, and physical evidence from the roadway. Helmet use, damage patterns, and witness statements may also help establish how the collision occurred. These details contribute to a clearer understanding of the factors involved in the crash.
