Youngstown, FL (June 27, 2026) – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, two people were killed, and four others were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon, June 25, on US Highway 231 near Lindsey Xing in the Youngstown area.

Deputies stated that a Tesla and a Chevrolet Tahoe were traveling southbound when the Tesla attempted to pass the Tahoe. During the maneuver, the Tesla struck the Tahoe, causing it to spin across the grassy median. The Tesla then crossed into the northbound lanes and collided with a Cadillac Escalade. The Tesla came to rest on the east shoulder of the highway, while the Tahoe stopped in the median.

The Escalade overturned and landed on its roof. Authorities said the driver and passenger in the Tesla died from their injuries. The Tahoe driver was not hurt. The driver of the Escalade and two passengers suffered minor injuries, while a third passenger sustained serious injuries.

We extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased, and our thoughts are with those injured as they recover.

Why Passing Maneuvers Can Lead to Multi-Vehicle Crashes

Passing another vehicle on a highway requires enough distance and clear visibility to safely return to the proper lane. If contact occurs during the maneuver, vehicles can lose control, cross medians, or enter opposing traffic, increasing the likelihood of additional collisions.

Multi-vehicle crashes involve secondary impacts after the initial collision changes the direction of travel of one or more vehicles. Investigators typically review vehicle damage, roadway markings, tire marks, and witness statements to reconstruct the sequence of events. These findings help explain how the crash developed and why multiple vehicles became involved.
