Why Protective Gear Can Help Reduce Motorcycle Crash Injuries
Motorcyclists face a higher risk of injury during crashes because they do not have the same structural protection found in passenger vehicles. Helmets and riding gear can help reduce the severity of some injuries, especially during lower-speed impacts or falls onto the roadway.
Hand and arm injuries are common in motorcycle accidents because riders often try to brace themselves during a collision. Gloves, reinforced jackets, and protective padding may help limit cuts, fractures, and road rash in some situations.
Intersections and highway access points are also common locations for motorcycle crashes because drivers and riders may approach traffic from different angles at varying speeds. Investigators reviewing motorcycle collisions often examine vehicle positioning, visibility, and roadway conditions to better understand how the accident occurred.
