Springfield, MO (August 17, 2026) – A 62-year-old motorcyclist died after striking a pickup truck on Monday morning at Kearney St and Patterson Ave. The collision was reported at approximately 9:14 a.m. on August 17.
The police said Melvin Sommerfeld, 78, was driving a 2020 Dodge Ram east on Kearney in the center lane. He turned left toward northbound Patterson, and Robin Parker, riding a 2004 Yamaha west on Kearney, struck the pickup during the turn.
Parker was taken to a hospital, where she later died. A helmet was found at the location, but it was not immediately known whether Parker was wearing it when the accident occurred. The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under investigation.
