Elsa, TX (August 22, 2026) – A motorcyclist died on Thursday, August 20, after a Dodge Durango struck his Harley-Davidson from behind on FM 88 north of Elsa.
The accident happened around 4:57 a.m. south of Mile 20. The motorcycle was traveling north and slowing to turn into a private driveway when the Durango approached from behind and failed to control its speed, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The Durango driver fled after the collision, but troopers later found the vehicle near Mile 19, east of FM 88 and south of the crash site.
The motorcyclist’s identity had not been released because notification of next of kin was pending. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
