Orlando, FL (September 1, 2026) – A 45-year-old motorcyclist was killed, and another man was injured in an early-morning crash on Innovation Way near South Alafaya Trail. The collision happened around 1:45 a.m. on Monday, August 31.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, two men were riding motorcycles above the speed limit when they lost control while negotiating a turn. The 45-year-old Haines City man was thrown from his motorcycle, struck a fence, and died. The second rider, a 34-year-old Orlando man, was also thrown from his motorcycle.
He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation. Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones, and we are thinking of the injured rider as he recovers.
What Can Make Motorcycle Crashes More Severe?
Motorcycles provide less protection than enclosed passenger vehicles during a collision. Riders can be thrown from their motorcycles when a bike loses control, increasing the risk of contact with vehicles, fences, barriers, or other objects.
Speed can also affect how much time a rider has to respond to a curve or unexpected roadway condition. Higher speeds can increase stopping distances and make it harder to regain control after a motorcycle begins to slide or leave its path.
