West Alexandria, OH (September 1, 2026) – A woman died, and her husband suffered serious injuries after a pickup truck struck them on West Dayton Street near Voge Street in West Alexandria on Sunday afternoon, August 30, around 3:45 p.m.
According to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, a 2012 Ford F-250 was traveling west on West Dayton Street when it struck a legally parked 2005 Cadillac Escalade. The impact pushed the Cadillac into a legally parked 2012 GMC Sierra. Deputies said two residents were outside near their vehicles when the collision occurred and were struck.
Donna Tubesing, 80, of West Alexandria, died at the scene, while her husband was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with serious injuries. The Ford driver was also taken to Reid Hospital in Richmond with non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies suspect impaired driving was a factor, though no charges were listed in the release. The crash remains under investigation.
Our condolences go out to Donna Tubesing’s family and loved ones, and we are thinking of her husband as he recovers.
What Should Pedestrians Know About Roadside Vehicle Crashes?
Pedestrians near parked vehicles can face serious risks when a moving vehicle leaves its travel lane. A collision with a parked vehicle can also cause that vehicle to move unexpectedly, creating additional hazards nearby.
People standing beside vehicles should remain aware of approaching traffic whenever possible. Parking areas and roadside locations can become dangerous if a moving vehicle loses control or strikes another vehicle.
Drivers should maintain control and remain attentive, particularly on streets where vehicles and pedestrians share close spaces. Avoiding impaired driving is also critical because alcohol and drugs can affect judgment, coordination, and reaction time.
