De Soto, MO (July 26, 2026) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV early on Saturday morning, July 25, on MO-21 south of Britton Road in Jefferson County.

The collision occurred around 12:30 a.m. A 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling southbound when the driver slowed and began making a left turn into a private driveway. At the same time, the rider of a 2023 Honda CBT500X attempted to pass the SUV. The motorcycle rider tried to avoid the SUV, but the motorcycle’s front struck the SUV’s rear.

The 30-year-old rider from Blackwell, Missouri, suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South. The motorcycle was destroyed and removed from the scene by private conveyance. The SUV had moderate damage and was driven away after the crash. We wish those injured a smooth and complete recovery.

What Factors Are Reviewed After a Motorcycle Crash?

Motorcycle crashes are reviewed by examining vehicle movements, roadway conditions, and each driver’s or rider’s actions. Investigators may examine travel paths, damage patterns, and other evidence to determine how the collision occurred.

Passing maneuvers and turning vehicles can create situations where drivers have limited time to react. Staying aware of nearby traffic, using caution around turning vehicles, and following roadway rules can help reduce the risk of serious crashes.
