According to reports, the crash occurred around 12:40 p.m. south of Exit 40 (NJ 38) and involved a tractor-trailer and at least one other vehicle.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, where a heavily damaged tractor-trailer was seen lodged underneath an overpass. A school bus was also reportedly involved in the incident.
The crash led to the closure of two southbound lanes and one northbound lane, creating heavy congestion in the area. As of later in the afternoon, at least one southbound lane and the northbound shoulder remained closed.
