Madison Co., IL (August 26, 2026) – Multiple people were injured on Tuesday morning, August 25, in a three-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 270 at Illinois Route 3 near Granite City. The collision happened at approximately 7:31 a.m.
State police closed the westbound lanes while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. Traffic was diverted onto Illinois Route 3 for several hours. Two westbound lanes were later reopened.
The crash remains under investigation, and no additional details about how it happened were released. We hope everyone injured receives care and recovers fully.
