New Haven, CT (February 2, 2026) – A serious wrong-way motor vehicle accident resulted in injuries Saturday morning on Interstate 91 northbound in New Haven. The collision was reported around 6:45 a.m. in the area of Exit 3 and prompted an immediate response from emergency crews.
According to early information, a driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-91 after entering the highway near Exit 8. The wrong-way vehicle subsequently collided head-on with another vehicle in the northbound lanes, causing significant damage and leading to injuries for both drivers involved.
Emergency responders arrived quickly to assist at the scene and provide medical care. Both drivers were evaluated by paramedics and transported to a local hospital for treatment. One of the drivers was reported to have suffered serious injuries, while the other sustained injuries described as minor in nature.
Traffic along I-91 northbound experienced major disruptions as authorities worked to secure the scene, assist the injured, and investigate the circumstances surrounding the wrong-way crash.
