How Residential Fires Can Lead to Critical Injuries
Residential fires can become dangerous quickly because smoke can spread through a home before flames are visible from outside. Smoke inhalation is often a major concern, especially when someone is inside during the early stages of a fire.
Heat, limited visibility, and blocked exits can make escape harder. A person may become trapped or overcome by smoke before they can reach a safe area. Early-morning fires can be especially dangerous because people may be asleep when they start.
After a house fire, responders often focus on removing victims, treating burns or breathing problems, and checking whether the fire has spread. Damage inside the home can also create hazards from weakened floors, broken glass, or falling debris.
