NEWNAN, Coweta County, Ga., Sept. 15, 2026 — Two vehicles collided early Tuesday morning, September 15, at N Hwy 29 and Weldon Rd in Newnan, blocking the roadway and coming to rest on nearby railroad tracks, according to authorities.
The crash forced a halt to train traffic through the area while crews worked to clear the vehicles from the tracks, authorities said. Crossings north and south of the scene were reportedly affected while trains were stopped.
By around 6:33 a.m., responders had moved both vehicles off the tracks and to the side of the road, clearing the way for trains to resume running, according to authorities. No serious injuries were reported in connection with the crash.
Authorities asked drivers to continue using caution near the scene as first responders finished work at the site. The cause of the crash has not been released and remains under investigation.
