North Miami, FL (January 13, 2026) – A deadly hit-and-run crash late Sunday night claimed the life of a 26-year-old man and left another individual hospitalized, prompting an urgent investigation by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of West Dixie Highway and NE 136th St. Authorities confirmed that 26-year-old Rubens Clement was struck and killed at the scene. A second man, whose identity has not yet been released, was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
Investigators say a black sedan hit both victims before fleeing the scene. No suspect has been identified, and no detailed description of the vehicle or its driver has been released at this time.
Moazzem Hussain, a convenience store manager whose shop sits near the scene, described the aftermath of the tragedy. “His brother came into my store and showed me a picture,” Hussain said. “He said he was just 26 years old. A young life is lost. It’s really bad.”
The crash site remains a visible reminder for those who frequent the area. “That’s where it happened,” Hussain added, pointing outside his store.
Another passerby, identified only as Abigail, shared her reaction: “I am shocked but not surprised. Unfortunately, a lot of people drive really crazy around here, and it’s a shame that someone lost their life.”
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office continues to search for leads in the case. As of now, there is no known reward for information, and it is unclear if the suspect vehicle sustained visible damage in the collision.
Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact local authorities. Our hearts go out to the family of Rubens Clement and to the individual still recovering from this heartbreaking incident.
