Northfield, MN (January 13, 2026) – Emergency responders were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash with injuries on Monday morning in Northfield. The collision occurred at approximately 11:38 a.m. on January 12 at the intersection of southbound Highway 3 and Honeylocust Dr in Rice County.
First responders, including Northfield Police and the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, arrived promptly and provided care to both drivers. Paramedics transported 86-year-old Sally Grinde Legrand of Northfield and 23-year-old Taylor Margaret Thomas of Faribault to Northfield Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Medics and fire crews worked diligently to assist the injured and secure the area.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred when a 2022 Toyota Camry attempted to turn left from southbound Highway 3 onto Honeylocust Dr and collided with a northbound 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck. Airbags deployed in the Camry, and both drivers were confirmed to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The roadway was dry at the time, and no alcohol was involved. The intersection remained partially blocked as authorities conducted an on-scene investigation and cleared the vehicles from the roadway.
