How Vehicle Incidents on Private Property Are Reviewed
Crashes involving vehicles on private property are examined differently from those on public roads. Investigators often focus on the layout of the area, including driveways, yards, and visibility around structures.
In these cases, speed may be lower, but limited space and close proximity can increase risk. The vehicle’s position and the movement of nearby vehicles are key factors in determining how the incident occurred.
Environmental conditions such as lighting, obstacles, and surface type can also affect visibility and control. These details are reviewed to help reconstruct the sequence of events and to understand how contact between a vehicle and a person occurred.
