Las Vegas, NV (June 26, 2026) – One officer was taken to a hospital on Thursday afternoon, June 25, after a crash involving multiple vehicles on Tropicana Avenue in the Spring Valley area. The accident happened around 12:10 p.m. near Torrey Pines Drive.

Las Vegas Metro police said officers were conducting a vehicle stop for a wanted person when another car crashed into police vehicles. The car also hit the vehicle that had been stopped.

The officer was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The driver who hit the vehicles remained at the site.

Detectives said impairment was not suspected at the time of the first report. Eastbound Tropicana Avenue was closed before Torrey Pines Drive after the collision. Investigators are reviewing what led to the wreck near Tropicana Avenue and Torrey Pines Drive.

We hope the injured officer receives proper care and recovers safely.

What Makes Crashes Near Police Stops More Complex?

Crashes during traffic stops can be dangerous because several vehicles may already be stopped near active lanes. Drivers approaching the area may need to slow down, change lanes, or move around police vehicles.

Unmarked vehicles can also make the setup harder for other drivers to understand at first. Flashing lights, lane position, and traffic flow may all affect how quickly drivers recognize the stop.

When an officer is hurt, emergency units may need to manage both the original stop and the new crash. Investigators may review vehicle positions, roadway conditions, visibility, and driver statements before more details are gathered and confirmed.
