Why Head-On Semi-Truck Crashes Often Result in Severe Injuries
Head-on collisions involving semi-trucks are among the most serious highway crashes due to the size and weight of the vehicles involved. When large trucks collide directly, the force of impact can cause major damage to both vehicles and lead to life-threatening injuries.
Median crossover crashes are also closely examined because they may involve loss of control, driver reaction time, or roadway conditions. Investigators often review tire marks, vehicle movement, and roadway conditions to determine how a truck entered opposing traffic lanes.
Traffic disruptions after these crashes can last for hours due to fuel spills, cargo concerns, and the difficulty of removing heavily damaged commercial vehicles from the roadway.
