Peoria, IL (July 23, 2026) – A person was critically hurt after a collision involving two vehicles near N Central and E McClure Avenue in Peoria early on Thursday morning.
The collision occurred at approximately 1:22 a.m. when two mid-sized cars struck each other on Peoria’s East Bluff. Emergency units found both vehicles with major damage, and a passenger had already been removed from one of the cars before they arrived.
The passenger had no pulse and received CPR before being taken to a local trauma center. Two other people were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one needed to be removed from the vehicles.
A preliminary review indicated one car was traveling at a high rate of speed on McClure Avenue before striking the passenger side of another vehicle. The driver of that car left after the wreck. Investigators continue to review what led to the crash. We are keeping those hurt in our thoughts as they recover.
