Jefferson City, MO (August 19, 2026) – An 81-year-old man died on Tuesday, August 18, after a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Route C and Veith Dr.
The wreck happened Monday, August 17, at about 9:22 a.m. A 2011 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on Veith Dr., while a cement truck was heading west on Route C with a green traffic signal.
The Chevrolet driver failed to stop for a red light and entered the intersection, where the cement truck struck the pickup. The 81-year-old man remained alert and conscious after the collision and received treatment at the site before being taken to University Hospital.
He died overnight at the hospital on Tuesday from injuries suffered in the accident. The traffic unit continued examining the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.

What Happens When a Driver Runs a Red Light?
Running a red light can create a serious risk because vehicles traveling through the intersection may have a green signal and little reason to expect cross traffic. A vehicle entering against a red signal can leave other drivers with very little time to avoid a collision.
