Maywood, IL (July 31, 2026) – One person died following a motorcycle crash involving two motorcycles on Thursday night, July 30, on eastbound I-290 near 1st Avenue in Maywood.
The crash was reported just after 8:30 p.m., according to the Illinois State Police. One person was taken to a local hospital, where they later died. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Two eastbound lanes of Interstate 290 remained closed until around midnight while investigators examined the roadway. Officials have not determined what caused the crash, and it remains unclear whether the riders were part of a larger group of motorcyclists seen traveling through the Chicago area that evening. The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
