Why Bridge and Guardrail Crashes Can Be So Severe?
Crashes occurring on bridges or near guardrails can result in particularly serious outcomes due to limited recovery space and the potential for vehicles to leave the roadway. When a vehicle crosses or goes over a guardrail, occupants may face additional risks beyond the initial collision.
Investigators examining these incidents typically review vehicle speeds, roadway conditions, witness statements, physical evidence, and any available video footage. Authorities also analyze the sequence of impacts and the role roadway infrastructure may have played in the crash.
The findings from these investigations help establish what occurred and may contribute to future roadway safety improvements.
