Why Motorcycle and SUV Crashes Can Be Fatal
Motorcycle crashes involving SUVs can be deadly because riders have limited protection during impact. A rider may be thrown from the motorcycle and suffer severe trauma from contact with the vehicle, road, or nearby objects.
SUVs are larger and heavier than motorcycles, which can increase the force of a collision. Medical teams may check for head, chest, spine, limb, and internal injuries after a serious motorcycle accident. Investigators may review vehicle movement, road conditions, traffic signals, lighting, speed, and witness statements to understand how the crash occurred.
