Florence, KY (July 8, 2026) – One woman died, and three others were seriously injured after a two-vehicle collision on Monday afternoon, July 6, near 7405 Industrial Road in Florence. The accident was reported around 4:15 p.m.

The woman who died was identified as Shirley Hadden, 55. A preliminary report said Hadden was driving a Honda Fit and was attempting to turn left from a parking lot onto Industrial Road when the vehicle was hit by another vehicle.

Hadden was brought to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she later died. A 12-year-old boy riding in her vehicle was brought to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A 70-year-old woman in Hadden’s vehicle was brought to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries that were not life-threatening. The other driver, a 52-year-old woman, was also taken to UC Medical Center with serious injuries that were not life-threatening. The wreck remains under review as investigators continue checking roadway evidence and witness statements.

We extend our sincere condolences to Hadden’s family and hope those hurt get better.

What Raises Injury Risk Near Parking Lot Entrances?

Crashes near parking lot exits can be severe because drivers may need to cross several lanes at once. Vehicles already on the main road may be moving faster than those leaving a driveway or business entrance, which can reduce reaction time for everyone involved.

Left turns from parking lots can also be difficult when traffic is steady. A driver must judge gaps in both directions, watch for turning vehicles, and account for pedestrians or parked cars nearby. Limited sight lines can make that judgment harder.

When a vehicle is struck while crossing lanes, passengers may face force from the side or front. Seating position, speed, and vehicle size can affect how badly each person is hurt. These factors usually explain why people in the same crash may have very different outcomes.
