Tangipahoa Parish, LA (May 25, 2026) – A 22-year-old woman died early Saturday morning following a multi-vehicle crash on LA Highway 16 at Dykes Lane, according to Louisiana State Police on May 23.
Authorities said the woman was driving a 2026 Kia K4 eastbound on LA Highway 16 when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle crossed the centerline. The Kia struck the front of a westbound 2013 Ford F-150 driven by a 48-year-old man. A 2020 Chevrolet Silverado traveling behind the Ford then collided with the passenger side of the Kia.
The driver of the Kia was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The Ford driver, who was restrained, was not injured. The driver of the Silverado sustained minor injuries and was not properly restrained.
Investigators said signs of impairment were observed in the Silverado driver, who was later arrested and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Correctional Facility on multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended.
Further details have not been released. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the woman who lost her life.
How Multi-Vehicle Highway Situations Are Typically Reviewed
After serious roadway situations involving multiple vehicles, information is usually gathered from several sources to reconstruct what happened. This can include physical evidence on the roadway, vehicle positions, and damage patterns.
Driver accounts may also be collected to understand how each vehicle moved before the sequence of events. In some cases, medical documentation helps clarify the extent of harm to those involved. Weather, lighting, and traffic flow are also reviewed to determine outside factors that may have contributed.
Investigators often compare all available details to build a timeline of movement and contact between vehicles. This process can take time as new information becomes available from different records and statements. Each piece of evidence helps create a clearer picture of how the situation developed on the roadway.
