Houston, TX (June 29, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash on the Interstate 610 East Loop resulted in one death late Saturday night near the Port of Houston. Rescue and emergency units were first alerted to the collision at 12:53 a.m. on June 28.
Authorities said the crash was initially confirmed at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. The impact shut down all southbound main lanes of the East Loop, along with both the left and right shoulders. Traffic was heavily impacted through the area overnight due to the full closure.
Emergency responders confirmed that one person died at the scene. Officials have not released the victim’s identity, as family notification is still pending.
