Phoenix, AZ (June 24, 2026) – One person was taken to a hospital on Monday evening, June 22, after a house fire in southwest Phoenix. The fire happened around 5:45 p.m. at a home on Encinas Lane, north of Broadway Road and west of 75th Avenue.
Emergency units arrived and found smoke and flames coming from the home. Crews worked to put out the fire while also checking the house for anyone still inside.
All five people who lived at the home were able to get out. One resident was taken to a hospital with burns.
A neighbor was checked by medical personnel but did not need hospital care. No emergency workers were hurt.
The home had severe damage, and the five residents will need to stay elsewhere.
The cause remains under review as investigators work to determine the origin of the fire. We hope the person hurt receives steady care and recovers safely.
How House Fire Burns Can Worsen Without Care
Burn injuries can vary depending on the heat, smoke, and how long a person was exposed. Even burns that appear limited at first may require medical care, as skin damage can worsen over time. Doctors may also check for breathing problems caused by smoke.
House fires can spread quickly through rooms, walls, and attic spaces. Smoke may fill a home before flames reach every room, making it harder for residents to leave safely.
People displaced by a fire may also face short-term housing needs. Severe smoke, water, and electrical damage can make a home unsafe even after flames are out. Early reports often focus on who escaped, who needed hospital care, and whether the home can still be used.
