Amherst, NY (June 27, 2026) – At least one person was hurt in a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Flint Road and Maple Road near the University at Buffalo on Friday afternoon, June 26. The accident was reported at about 12:30 p.m.

Initial reports indicated that three vehicles were involved in the roadway collision. Emergency units worked to free one occupant who was trapped inside a vehicle, and a second ambulance was requested to assist at the scene.

The extent of the person’s injuries and the identities of those involved were not immediately released. Traffic was affected as crews worked at the intersection.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.

We are thinking of those affected and wish the injured person a full recovery.

Why Can Multi-Vehicle Collisions Require Vehicle Extrication?

When several vehicles are involved in the same roadway collision, the impact force can leave doors, frames, or other parts of a vehicle bent or jammed. In some cases, occupants cannot safely exit without specialized equipment to create an opening.

Investigators typically examine the positions of the vehicles, damage patterns, roadway conditions, and any physical evidence left behind. Witness accounts and traffic conditions may also help establish the sequence of impacts. These details help build a clearer picture of how the collision unfolded and why some occupants required assistance to leave their vehicles.
