Avondale, AZ (August 7, 2026) – One person died, and another was seriously injured following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Fairway Dr in Avondale on Thursday, August 6.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Avondale Fire & Medical, the collision occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes of I-10 near Fairway Dr. Emergency responders arrived to find two people with serious injuries and transported both victims to a nearby hospital. Troopers later confirmed that one of the injured individuals died.
The crash prompted the closure of westbound I-10 for most of the morning as investigators documented the scene and crews cleared the wreckage. Traffic cameras showed numerous emergency vehicles responding to the incident. The freeway reopened at approximately 9 a.m. Authorities continue to investigate what caused the deadly collision.
