Why Head-On Accidents With Tractor-Trailers Can Be Deadly
Head-on accidents involving tractor-trailers can cause severe harm because of the size and weight difference between the vehicles. A passenger car may absorb much of the force when it meets a large truck from the opposite direction. This can lead to major trauma for people inside the smaller vehicle.
Fires can add another danger after heavy vehicle contact. Fuel, damaged parts, cargo, and heat from the engine may all create added risk. Medical teams may check survivors for burns, breathing issues, head trauma, chest injuries, and broken bones. Road design, lane position, lighting, vehicle speed, and final resting points can help explain how the vehicles came together. These details are often reviewed carefully after a fatal highway emergency.
